Our most important asset is our people. Our staff members are your guides to adventure at Storer Camps. Nearly 60 employees guide camp activities and run our facilities year round. In the summer, 120 staff members, mostly college students who come back year after year, support our professional staff. All of our staff members are qualified, competent, experienced and passionate about their work. They're here because they love Storer Camps and are deeply committed to building relationships and changing lives.

Trading Post/Customer Service Assistant

YMCA Storer Camps seeking a Trading Post Clerk/Customer Service Assistant. 

General Function: 

The candidate will be part of a team that is responsible to provide excellent customer service to all areas of the Camp as needed.  This includes answering phones, payment processing, assisting customers with group and individual camper registration, representing camp at open houses and check in days, and other duties as assigned.  This is a part time, as needed position, with occasional weekend assignments. 

Know How: 

The Customer Service Assistant must possess outstanding communication and organizational skills in order to relate to the entire camp community and to achieve the desired results on multiple simultaneous projects.  The incumbent must possess excellent data accuracy and attention to detail.  Familiarity with Google calendar and Google docs, excel spreadsheet data management, mail merge, email campaigns, and some bookkeeping skills are necessary to be successful in this position. Some college coursework preferred.

Job Segments as needed for support: 

  • Assist with payment processing and accounts receivable duties
  • Use spreadsheet data management tools, mail merge, and reconciliations
  • Be familiar with navigating YMCA Storer Camps website and Facebook page, and assist guests with questions regarding summer camp and group registrations
  • Assist at Open Houses, Camper check in and check out days
  • Participate in direct marketing activities to support increased enrollment in the areas of Summer Camp, Specialty Groups and The Storer Outdoor School
  • Work at Gift Shop (Trading Post) when necessary
  • Participate in the Annual Scholarship Campaign
  • Other Duties as assigned

Summer Positions Available

Various levels of positions available for individuals over 18 years of age for Summer Resident Camp. Required skills include but are not limited to: excellent communication skills, proven leadership skills and experience working with children. Advanced skills in areas of sailing, equestrian sports, challenge courses, snorkeling, and kayaking a plus.
