Welcome
For over 90 years, YMCA Storer Camps has been a leader in Environmental Education where nature makes science relevant and stewardship of our world comes alive for students from all over the country and all over the world.
Located in the beautiful Irish Hills of Southeast Michigan, our Storer Outdoor School has a 1200-acre campus with 15 different eco systems – a rare combination of “Lands for Learning”, that features the Mohr Environmental Studies Center, where students link technology with all things natural.
Mission
To put Judeo/Christian principles
into practice through programs
and experiences in
the natural
environment that build a
healthy
spirit, mind and body for all.
Many are concerned that technology is keeping children inside but we use technology to explore the natural world. Students can’t see the electricity generated from our solar array but they can monitor what it is doing, on site… AND from their classrooms at school.
We are reaching beyond the boundaries of our campus. Sunviwer.net™ - YMCA Storer Camps is the first of many future links in our Long Distance Learning Programs. Our solar array can be monitored from anywhere in the world… and we invite the world to come to YMCA Storer Camps to learn more…
TO SERVE…TO TEACH…TO INSPIRE...
With GPS units in hand, students can find and explore our unique ecosystem… or perhaps map the lake edge or inventory Storer’s rare flora and fauna… literally creating new banks of knowledge. Storer’s Lands for Learning opportunities are endless.
